The New York EDITION seamlessly blends the elegant design of Ian Schrager with its Madison Avenue landmark beginnings. Originally constructed in 1909 as Metropolitan Life Insurance Company’s headquarters, this clocktower, near Madison Square Park, has been ingeniously reinvented to offer luxury boutique accommodation, a tranquil hotel spa, chic new event spaces and a Michelin-starred restaurant helmed by Executive Chef Jason Atherton, all encompassed by 360-degree views of the City. The Clocktower restaurant offers updated classics and contemporary British fare by Michelin starred Chef Jason Atherton. Located on the hotel’s landmarked second floor, The Clocktower includes three uniquely-designed dining rooms, a billiards room, and a bar made entirely of gold leaf. “Had a great stay at the Edition NYC. Comfortable and well designed rooms. Love the big bathrooms! Very attentive concierge - the best I have come across. Very helpful especially when you are travelling with children. The service was amazing when it was available. We were there for a week, for the first 2 days, they looked to be understaffed. No one at the door to help opening doors for my buggy or help with luggage. Which I found a little shocking to say the least! Especially when it was pouring down with rain outside. Luckily by the 3rd day there were more porters in the lobby and by the doors, which was helpful. I found their staff 'uniform' confusing, it was not super obvious if someone was a member of the hotel staff or just guests. Porters were wearing just plain polo shirts and chinos, with no logos. I understand they might want to keep it cool and trendy avoiding big logos, but sometimes it gets a bit awkward I was hesitant to ask for help in fear of asking the wrong person (hotel guests)!!”

“Nice location. Modern decor. Helpful concierges.Uncomfortable beds for a 5 star hotel. No flat sheet. The tv was slow and delayed. No shower door was odd and made for cool showers and steamy bathroom. No shower pressure at all.The ladies at the front desk were lovely. The men seemed indifferent. The doormen were always friendly.We waited for 30-45 mins minimum for check in because protocol is for someone from the front desk to personally check room before they give us a key.... It was very very inefficient.The first time we were informed about the $35 usd credit per day was upon check out when we were reminded of the daily resort fee. The resort fee isn't unusual and was fine but it would have been nice to be notified about the credit at check in. Even if it's noted at the time of booking most people lead busy lives and a friendly reminder would have been nice and would have encouraged us to eat/drink at the hotel or use the spa.Not a bad hotel...just not worth the price/points... Or the 5 star rating in my opinion..”
